Soil pH ( a measure of acidity) affects how well the plant aborbs nutrients from the soil. For example while blueberries grow better in acidic soil (4.5-5.5 on the pH scale), lawns grow better in slightly acidic to neutral soil (6.2-7 on the pH scale).
